What Image Splitter is

Drop a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF. Set rows and columns from 1 to 12. The preview draws the grid on the photo so you can see the cells before you save. A 3×3 grid makes nine tiles. Download tiles writes each cell as its own file. Download grid writes one image with the lines drawn on it.

The split is pixel arithmetic, not a content-aware crop. It does not find faces. It does not snap to a subject. When the width does not divide evenly by the column count, some tiles are one pixel wider than others. The same happens on height and rows. That is expected. A 1920-pixel edge across three columns cannot be three equal 640s if the remainder is not zero; one cell picks up the extra pixel. For a single new width and height, use Image Resizer instead of this page.

How to use it

  1. Open a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF.
  2. Step rows and columns from 1 to 12 until the overlay matches the cut you want.
  3. Read the preview grid. A 3×3 overlay should show nine cells.
  4. Download tiles for separate files, or download grid for one marked picture.

Common uses

Cut a carousel into frames. Make a 3×3 puzzle from a poster. Slice a contact sheet for a client who wants each cell. Print a marked grid so a team can point at “row 2, column 3” on a call. Designers use download grid as a markup and download tiles as the assets. Social posts that need a 3×3 collage start here, then each tile can be resized on Image Resizer if the platform wants a fixed pixel box. A 1×2 or 2×1 split is valid: that is just two tiles, not a full puzzle.

Rows and columns are independent. 2×6 is twelve tiles in a wide strip. 12×12 is the cap and a large zip of files; use it only when you need that many cells. GIF is accepted as a still source in the browser’s decoder; you do not get an animated tile set. If the source is huge, the preview still runs in this tab and may feel slow on an old laptop. That is still local work. After a split, if each tile is the wrong pixel size for a CMS, open Image Resizer on the tile, not a second split. If you only needed one 1200×630 crop, you used the wrong tool.
