What Tip Calculator is

Type the bill in pounds. Tip presets are 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. Custom opens a percent field when the table is not one of those four. Split steps the number of people. The page shows tip per person, total per person, and the grand total. Round up per person lifts each share to the next pound and then shows the implied tip and the new table total.

The currency mark is £ because the site is UK-made. The arithmetic does not care. Treat the number as dollars, euros, or another major unit and the percents still hold. The page does not fetch a rate. It does not convert. It multiplies the bill by the tip percent, divides by the headcount, and optionally ceilings each person’s total. Copy summary writes that breakdown so you can paste it into a group chat. Nothing on the form is stored after you leave.

How to use it

  1. Enter the bill amount as a pound figure (or the same digits in another currency).
  2. Tap 10, 15, 20, or 25, or tap Custom and type a percent.
  3. Set how many people with the stepper.
  4. Turn on round up per person if you want each share on a whole pound.
  5. Copy the summary into the chat that is collecting the split.

Common uses

Split a dinner after service charge is already on the card slip, or when it is not. Agree 12.5% in Custom when the printed suggestion is not what the table wants. Work out a cash tip when the machine only took the food. Round up per person when everyone would rather send a clean £18 than £17.43. Studio lunches, crew wrap meals, and shared taxis use the same steps: bill, percent, people, optional round, copy. The page does not know service charge already on the bill. If the receipt includes 12.5%, either tip 0% in Custom or use the pre-service subtotal as the bill.

Presets stop at 25%. Custom has no UK etiquette built in. A tourist table and a local table will type different percents; the math is the same. Split must be at least one person. One person still sees tip and total, which is useful when you only want the percent of a solo bill. Round up changes the effective tip. Read the note under the totals so you know the implied percent after the ceiling. Do not use this page as a payroll tool or a VAT invoice. It is a table split, not accounting software.
