What Unit Converter is

Families: length, mass, temperature, volume, area, speed, time, and data. Type a number. Pick the unit you have and the unit you want. The result updates as you type. There is no convert button to miss.

Temperature is a scale, not a simple multiply. 0 °C is 32 °F, not zero. Kelvin sits on the same family. Data units follow 1024 steps for KiB and friends where the page labels them that way. This is a quick swap in the tab, not a lab certificate and not a legal metrology stamp.

How to use it

  1. Choose the family of measurement.
  2. Enter the value. Set the from unit and the to unit.
  3. Read the live result. Change either unit to try another pair.
  4. Switch families when the job changes, for example length to mass.

Common uses

Turn kilometres into miles for a trip note. Weigh a parcel in kilograms and pounds. Check an oven recipe that lists Fahrenheit. Convert a US gallon figure to litres. Size a room in square metres and square feet. Read a speed limit in km/h and mph. Split a film runtime from minutes into hours. Guess a download size from MiB into GiB.

Students use it for homework that mixes SI and imperial. Shoppers use it on a listing that only shows one system. Runners use it on a pace that arrived in the other unit. Cooks use volume when a cup and a millilitre sit in the same recipe. Sailors use nautical miles in the length family when that unit is listed. Designers use data sizes when a CMS cap is written in MB-ish labels.

Stay inside one family at a time. You cannot turn metres into kilograms here. That is not a conversion; it is a different quantity. Temperature needs the scale path, so do not expect a factor like length. If a label says KiB, the 1024 step is the one in use. If a host uses decimal MB, this page may not match their billing. Read the unit names on the controls.
