What Word Count is
Paste or type in Text. Counts update as you go: words, characters, characters without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and lines. Reading time uses 200 wpm. Speaking time uses 130 wpm. Paste, Copy text, and Clear sit on the pane. The work stays in this tab. Nothing is uploaded to social-hub.io.
An optional word goal fills a bar. Tap 500 or 2000, or type your own number. Copy counts writes the numbers. Download .txt saves the text you typed. Top keywords lists common words as you go. Ignore whitespace affects the keyword list only; the main word and character counts stay as they are. The primary pair is words and characters. The extras sit underneath so a long draft still reads at a glance.
How to use it
- Paste or type the draft. Watch words and characters update.
- Read sentences, paragraphs, lines, then reading time at 200 wpm and speaking time at 130 wpm.
- Set a word goal, or tap 500 or 2000, if you want the bar.
- Scan Top keywords. Tick Ignore whitespace if you only want that list cleaned.
- Copy counts, or download a .txt of the text. Copy text if you need the draft itself.
Common uses
Check a blog post against a brief. See if a script will fit a two-minute read. Estimate speaking time before you record. Watch a 500 word warm-up or a 2000 word draft fill the bar. Pull keywords to see what a page actually repeats. Count a caption before you post it. Confirm a brief is not just whitespace. The reading and speaking times are simple divisions, not a test of your voice or a reader’s pace. A dense legal paragraph will take longer than the 200 wpm line suggests. A list of short lines still counts as lines. If you need title case after you finish a count, that is a different page.
Privacy
The draft is never uploaded. There is no cloud copy and no share link. Close the tab or refresh and the box is empty. We do not see what you paste.
